Battambang, Cambodia : Bamboo Train

USD$10 if single person, USD$5 if sharing with others. And probably that time gonna be the last time I experience the bamboo train (or the local call it as “noory”) ride as they said the government gonna shut it down for a modern, proper railway and train from somewhere to somewhere to Thailand; of course will go through Battambang.

Honestly nothing much to see along the ride but the experience riding a “train” without any wall on more-than-40-years-old rusty rails, and really loud… wohooo! We stop at small village where kids over there were super friendly but of course they expect for some “tips” by showing us the brick factory, rice factory and others. But rather than give them money which doesn’t help them to go to school, bring some candies and chocolates.
Well, some people in tripadvisor said bamboo train is a tourists trap but for me, Marc and Nike, we kindda like it.

Train Ride : Vang Vieng to Bangkok, again…

Going back to Bangkok after spent time in Laos with disable person (he injured himself, dislocated his knee in Vang Vieng) – Jimmy. Lucky the journey back by train from Vientiane to Bangkok didn’t took so long like previous journey from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. All good. Was good.

We went back together with 5 other English boys but they took a bus not a train with me and Jimmy. We were staying at the same place (hostel) in Vang Vieng, Easy Go Backpackers Hostel, and became friends in instant. And we stayed in a same guesthouse – Rainbow Guesthouse – around Khao San Road area. Took 4 room for 7 of us; I shared a room with Phillips. I was hoping it gonna be with Alexander! Hahaha!

Had fun with them in Bangkok. Went to The Club Khao San, boozed, ate, slept, wandered around together was so much fun with bunch of hot boys. Everyone was looking at me like I am their mama-san. LOL!

Train Ride : Bangkok To Chiang Mai

7.35pm – 2.30pm. Yeap, fucking 17 hours train ride from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. It suppose to be 10-12 hours but don’t know what went wrong, the train was so slow and stopped at some spot for pretty long period. Grrr…
But I am not complaining. I got myself placed in “party cabin” with bunch of backpackers including a family from Australia which really cool although they were not so young and traveling with 15 years old son.

Food in the train was pretty shitty and not worth the price but hey, I was in moving train! But those staffs in the train was pretty efficient and know how to create a big whole in my/our wallets. LOL!
The “bed” quiet comfortable enough but expect no space to rollin’ your body as it pretty small, and if you are above 5’10” tall, you gonna have a lil’ bit of trouble to put either your head or your legs. Hahaha!
I paid 850THB for a second class sleeper train, lower bunk. Quiet pricey for me. I should’ve take train.
